- Dimensions: 9” x 13”, 176 pages, hardback
- In the cultural nucleus of 1920's Paris, Russian-born artist Sonia Delaunay (1885-1979) produced some of the most striking and original fabrics designs and fashions of modern times.
- Author Jacques Damase first met Delaunay in the 1960’s, developing a personal relationship with the designer and later inheriting her collection of original sketches and fabric samples. In this 175 page volume, these sketches are shown in full-color, many for the first time, alongside personal reflections on the artist.
- Delaunay pioneered the use of abstract designs for fabrics, making brightly colored clothing which she referred to as her “color scales.” These avant-garde creations outfitted the luminous circles of the Jazz Age and still feel modern to this day.
- Photographs of Delaunay and those she dressed: Gloria Swanson, French movie stars, and the troupes of Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes, among many others, fill the pages of this volume along with full-color images of her patterns and sketches.
- This out of print title is a no-brainer addition to the library of design lovers everywhere. It is in very good condition. Please see our detailed photos.
