Long a favorite of ours, bamboo “chik” blinds have been used for centuries in India to shield interiors from blazing sunlight. These shades are made by hand by a highly skilled team of artisans in Delhi. Thick bamboo poles are shaved, split into fine strips, and then woven by hand into geometric designs. Each shade is then edged with woven tape and finished with three ties along its top edge for hanging, as well as a pulley mechanism and rope for raising and lowering the blind. The completed look is charming, warm, and timeless. Their intricate weave filters sunlight beautifully and casts dappled patterns onto floors and walls. Please note that these blinds do not offer privacy.
patterns
Customers may select their pattern of choice from the group of 6 weaving styles below. The pattern string, pulley cord, and edging tape are made from cotton thread. Clients may dye these cotton elements: we are able to match a Farrow & Ball paint color of your choosing. Other standard thread colors include natural/undyed (shown in all of our photography), black, light brown, and dark brown (images of these colors are available upon request).
