With a career spanning nearly nine decades, Will Barnet is best known for his elegantly stylized paintings and prints of women and children. His career began in the Graphic Arts Division of the WPA's Federal Art Project. Today, his work is featured in over 200 museum collections, including New York's MoMA and Guggenheim as well as the Vatican Museum in Rome and the British Museum in London. A professor at Cooper Union and Yale University, Barnet was a member of the National Academy of Design and the American Academy of Arts and Letters, as well as a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in London. He was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 2011 by President Obama. He passed away at 101 in 2012.
