This beautiful ash splint basket was handmade by Indian communities in Maine during the late 19th century. At some point in its history, the entire piece—including the curl detail and handle—was whitewashed, lending it a soft, poetic patina. It would add a note of texture to a well-edited grouping, an organic quality to a contemporary kitchen, or a quiet grace to any home.
This piece is in good vintage condition, showing signs of wear consistent with age and use. Please see our detailed photos.
